The City of Airdrie is proud to host the second annual Eco Art Award, sponsored by Alta Innovative Manufacturing and with support from Creative Airdrie. The award coincides with ARTember and will showcase both the creativity of local artists and bring attention to waste and recycling in Airdrie.
How does it work?
Overview: Artists will submit a proposal explaining the piece they will create from recycled materials. Five proposals will be chosen and artists will create their works. The five pieces will be on display at the Environmental Education Centre during ARTember. Public will be able to vote for their favorite piece during this time. The top 3 pieces will receive a cash prize.
The winners will be determined based on the number of votes received.
Artists will be required to use recycled and/or repurposed materials. Materials from the Recycling depot will be available for the artists to use in their project.
The theme of the project must also align with the City of Airdrie’s AirdrieOne plan.
Artists will be required to tour the depot, develop their concepts and submit a proposal.
The Environmental Advisory Board (EAB), along with the working team, will select five of the submitted proposals to move on to the final round.
Artists working in all mediums are encouraged to apply.
Awards are open to Airdrie and Rocky View County residents.
After the artwork has been displayed and prizes have been awarded, the artwork will remain the property of the artist who created it.
